Magnetic Particle Equipment for OCTG Couplings [Video]

  •

Learn how a semi-automated magnetic particle testing system for inspecting Oil Country Tubular Good (OCTG) couplings can ease handling and enhance operator safety.

December 5, 2017

Magnaflux's semi-automated testing system is designed to improve productivity, reduce part handling and increase inspection quality.

The system is equipped with a Human Machine Interface (HMI) with a touch screen mounted on a movable pedestal. This allows users time-saving standard features like adjustable mag-shot timer and double-mag shot, and productivity upgrade options like auto-bath or auto-mag to automate the magnetizing process.

The central conductor mechanism can be adjusted match coupling sizes from 3 inches to 20 inches in diameter. The couplings are supported by special rollers which allow for easy rotation of the parts in two orientations, which provides technicians maneuvering parts with little effort.

The operator interface allows users to access many functions previously unavailable with standard magnetic particle machines. Each operator's password grants access according to their level of proficiency with particular machine functions.

Demagnetization is easily accomplished using the central conductor technique, which allows multiple parts to be processed simultaneously.
